An example list of places to eat is loaded above — edit it, or clear it and add your own.
How the restaurant picker works
Choosing where to eat is rarely about the food. It is about nobody wanting to be the person who picks. Comparing two places at a time takes the pressure off: you are not committing to dinner, you are just saying which of these two sounds better right now.
Swap the example list below for the places actually near you, or paste in a list of takeaways straight from your delivery app. Press Go and you will have an answer before anyone gets hungry enough to argue.
- Add your options. Type them one at a time, or paste a whole list in at once.
- Press Go. You will see two options side by side.
- Choose the one you prefer. The other one drops out of the running.
- Keep going until only your winner is left.
Tips for better results
- Hand the phone around the table so each person makes one choice.
- Add cuisines instead of restaurant names when the group cannot even agree on that much.
- Choose Shuffle in the settings if you want a fresh pairing every round rather than defending your last pick.
Common questions
Is this a random restaurant picker?
Not quite. The pairings you are shown are random, but the winner is not. Every restaurant that survives does so because someone actually chose it, which is why the result tends to stick.
Can a group use it at the same time?
Yes. Pass the device around so everyone gets a say, or press Go and share the link with whoever is joining you so they can run the same list.
Can I keep a list of my regular spots?
Press Go, then bookmark the page. Opening that bookmark another day brings the same places straight back, ready to run again.
