How the team activity picker works
Group decisions stall because nobody wants to overrule anyone. Comparing two options at a time makes each choice small enough that people commit, and the option that survives has been chosen repeatedly rather than merely tolerated.
Use it in a meeting by sharing your screen and taking turns, or send everyone the link and compare results. It works for activities, project names, and any shortlist of ideas that needs closing down.
- Add your options. Type them one at a time, or paste a whole list in at once.
- Press Go. You will see two options side by side.
- Choose the one you prefer. The other one drops out of the running.
- Keep going until only your winner is left.
Tips for better results
- Share your screen in the meeting and rotate who chooses each round.
- Add the constraints as options too, such as "anything that is not on a Friday".
- For a bigger group, have everyone run the list separately and compare winners rather than deciding live.
Common questions
How is this different from a poll?
A poll asks everyone to rank a long list at once, which usually rewards the least objectionable option. Head to head comparisons surface an actual preference, and they take a fraction of the time.
Can everyone take part remotely?
Yes. Press Go, then share the link. Anyone who opens it gets the same list and can run it themselves.
Does it work for decisions other than activities?
It works for any shortlist: project names, meeting times, vendors, feature priorities. If you can write the options as lines of text, you can narrow them down here.
